Was just reading Genesis 34 and 35 and talking to a friend about it after reading the commentary about how it's human nature to seek revenge when people wrong us and it's a natural reaction no one (most of the time) is going to blame you for or even try and stop you and then she was telling me about what she'd gone true and how bitter she was till her mum told her that as christians God sets a much higher standard for us than revenge, we're called to respond in love, to love your enemy and her mum was telling her something like what we on earth do to anger or wrong each other is nothing compared to what we do when we sin against God time and time again yet, he responded with love and even sacrificed himself for us, even though we're so unworthy.
Responding in love isn't just putting on a fake smile cause almost anyone out that can do that but it should be something genuine, straight from the heart. As christians, we have such a great example, yet, sadly, we all fail in so many ways.
And by the time we finished the conversation, i was humbled.
Heal my heart and make it clean
Open up my eyes to the things unseen
Show me how to love like you have loved me
Break my heart for what is yours
Everything I am for your kingdom’s cause
As I walk from earth into eternity
